Science Challenge 2014

On the 17th, 18th and 19th October, nine students who study both Science and Maths in year 10 participated in the annual Science Maths Challenge held at Central Queensland University- Gladstone Campus. This year students came from the four local high schools in the district.

The aim of the Science Maths Challenge is to allow students to work in teams (which is a mixture of students from all 4 schools) with industry mentors and solve a scientifically relevant and challenging problem. Each team then does a presentation in front of their peers, mentors, industry representatives, school principals, parents and family about the problem that they undertook to solve over the challenge. The three day program also included talks from industry and university students.

Students also had the opportunity to use technology available at local industry and university sites. The students from State High who participated were: Aime P, Joel F, Olivia W, Kanu G, Caitlyn Mc, Matthew L, Jane O, Johanna M and Fabio K.
