School Radio Station–STATE FM

Our school radio station ,with the wonderful support of the Gladstone business community and the then, Gaming Machine Benefit Fund was established back in 2001. The school radio station is the only student run activity ,that operates before school and both breaks ,five days a week.  It develops each students public speaking and ability to work as a member of a team ,that has a shared vision. Human Powered Vehicle (HPV)

Gladstone High’s Human Powered Vehicle Program (HPV) is an exciting competition that challenges students to race recumbent style bikes around a grand prix street circuit. Teams of 8  work together as they compete against over one hundred teams from across Queensland in the 24 hour endurance race, which is held in September each year at Maryborough.  Gladstone High teams have produced some amazing results in past years and have students from all tear levels keen to be a part of the action. Reef Guardian School Program

Gladstone State High School is a Reef Guardian School and organises many activities and events throughout the year aimed at improving the school’s sustainable practices, and promoting active citizenship for our staff and students and the wider community. 

ARTIE Program

Run by Former Origin Greats to improve attendance and retention of Indigenous kids in schools. Tutors from CQU volunteer in schools to assist students to achieve results in maths and English.

Murri Homework Centre

Wednesday afternoons after school with teacher support. students welcome every week. 


every Tues @ 2nd break for students who speak languages other than English, new students and anyone who’d like to help out.

Make 8 

A social justice group that meets every Wednesday @ 1st break.  The students actively explore effective ways to help those in need.  In 2015 these students have the opportunity to volunteer for 2 weeks in Nepal and analyse the effectiveness of different types of help.  This is a proactive group.
